Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 121519
OpenOffice crashes when disconnecting the remote desktop session
Last modified: 2017-05-20 09:26:21 UTC
Problem description: We run OpenOffice 3.4.1 on our Windows 2008R2 (64 bit) server from clients that connect to it using Remote Desktop. However, when a client disconnects the remote desktop client it crashes OpenOffice. Once reconnected OpenOffice will show the crash dialog and will recover the document(s) and work fine again after that. I have not seen this problem before using OpenOffice version 3.3. Steps to reproduce: 1. Login to windows 2008 using RDP 2. Start OpenOffice 3.4.1 (Writer, Calc, doesn't matter) 3. Disconnect RDP 4. Reconnect RDP and welcome to the document recovery dialog.
Confirm the bug, it is extremely painful if often working via RDP. It appreared not on every reconect, but very often. OS: Windows 7 SP 1 64 bit If running release 3.4.1 under the debugger it shows problem is caused by accessing unloaded dmwapi.dll: Stack trace from VS2005: > 6faa1610() uxtheme.dll!_IsCompositionActive@0() + 0x31 bytes uxtheme.dll!CThemeWnd::_AttachInstance() + 0x4e bytes uxtheme.dll!CThemeWnd::Attach() + 0x47d3 bytes uxtheme.dll!_ThemeDefWindowProc() + 0x17d0 bytes uxtheme.dll!_ThemeDefWindowProcA@16() + 0x18 bytes user32.dll!_DefWindowProcA@16() + 0xa3 bytes sfx.dll!64ac20ee() [Frames below may be incorrect and/or missing, no symbols loaded for sfx.dll] user32.dll!_UserCallWinProcCheckWow@32() + 0xce bytes user32.dll!_DispatchMessageWorker@8() + 0xed bytes user32.dll!_DispatchMessageA@4() + 0xf bytes sfx.dll!64ac0767() kernel32.dll!@BaseThreadInitThunk@12() + 0x12 bytes ntdll.dll!___RtlUserThreadStart@8() + 0x27 bytes ntdll.dll!__RtlUserThreadStart@8() + 0x1b bytes Do not have OOo with debugging information on hand (is it available?) and not sure I have time rebuild OOo from scratch.
The same happens with me. OO 3.4.1.(Build 9593). Steps: - open RDP session - open an calc doc - disconnect the session - connect again to the same RDP session OO crashes. OO presents the Document Recover window. It's very annoying. Thanks, Pedro
This also exists in 3.4.0
(In reply to comment #3) > This also exists in 3.4.0 3.3.0 works fine
I can confirm that. Problem persists in AOO 4.0.0. Case 1: Windows 7 Pro virtual machine on VMWare ESXi, accessed remotely via LAN and WAN alternatively. AOO 3.4.1 crashes every time. I've been working and developing on this for many months. Case 2: Windows 7 Pro Notebook Computer with AOO 4.0.0, remote access via LAN, tested just once, crashed. I work with mySQL Connector 1.0.1 on AOO 3.4.1 and mySQL SDBC Driver 1.2.0 on AOO 4.0.0 respectively - but I don't see a connection to the problem.
filed as Bug 123162 for AOO 4.0.0

is there somebody who is working on this bug? Would be great to see this fixed! we use the RDP-Connection everyday, and if somebody is in front in the store, i do connect to my rdp-connection from our pos and everytime my openoffice-document crashes - i need this document all day long, cause we log our work in this document.... - so this is happening to me multiple times a day...and everytime with the crash ..this is indeed, as rendman said, extremely painful. but, by the way: thanks to the communicty for this AWESOME PEACE OF FREE OpenSource Software!!!!
Still an issue with 4.0.1 AOO401m5(Build:9714) - Rev. 1524958. Solution? Go all linux? :))
