I could not reproduce this issue on OpenOffice.org 3.4.1, Build 9593, Rev. 1372292, with Win7 OS

Here are the steps I followed:

Scenario 1

1. I created test .pptx files in Powerpoint Office (please find files attached), containing more than 2 slides.
2. I opened OpenOffice Presentation and selected option 'Open existing presentation'
3. I clicked on the 'Open' button, browsed for one of the previously created test .pptx files and selected it
4. I used the Slide Show(F5) feature for the opened presentation
5. I navigated to slide #2, using the navigation arrows and the space bar on my keyboard, as well as the mouse click.
6. I repeated the navigation to slide #2, going back and forth through the presentation slides.

==> I noticed no application hang

7. I repeated steps #4-#6 with the second slide in the presentation marked as hidden (by right-clicking on the slide and selecting 'Hide slide')

==> The application and presentation do not stop running.

Scenario 2

1. I created test .pptx files in Powerpoint Office (please find files attached), containing more than 2 slides.
2. I opened OpenOffice Presentation and selected option 'Open existing presentation'
3. I clicked on the 'Open' button, browsed for one of the previously created test .pptx files and selected it
4. I set the slide transition option to 'Automatically' and assigned '2 sec' value to time frame for each of the slides in the presentation.
4. I used the Slide Show(F5) feature for the opened presentation

==> I noticed no application hang

Followup Testing was done and 2nd slide for the attached Test file is replicated.
However the ODP file is not hanging, but waiting for input from the user(Enter, Down arrow)

On further analysis, it is found that the "Waiting for input" is because of

Custom Animation=>Checkerboard=>Start(After Previous)/Direction(Across)

The "waiting for input" does not happen if change are applied as below

1) Custom Animation=>Checkerboard=>Start(With Previous)/Direction(Across)

2) Custom Animation=>Checkerboard=>Start(After Previous)/Direction(Downward)

Also, the issue does not reoccur, if the original settings is updated again after any of the above steps and does not reoccur after any number of changes.

If different animation mechanism is setup in this slide, the issue does not re-occur.

Further Tests to replicate the issue

1) Same presentation in PPT format(Test with both MS & AOO)(Test the original/Untouched file)
<Result> The issue persists in Impress, but not in Microsoft presentation.

2) Create a new Presentation in ODP format and set the same animation settings and run slide show

<Result> The issue can not be replicated in the custom animation for a new file created with 5 slides with Graphics & animation

3) Create a new presentation in PPT format(MS) and use it in Impress slide show(Original as well as ODP conversion)

<Result> The issue can not be replicated for PPT format.

4) Use an existing slide show(ODP, PPT - Big files (30MB)) and add animation with Chatterbox->across setting and test for the issue (I am not uploading the Test file used here as it was prepared from a personal file with lots of personal photos etc)

<Result> The issue does not occur for the custom Animation as same as the file used by the bug reporter(ODP, PPT format)

5) Test in Windows Vista(another environment available- Lesser Memory, Lower configuration)

<Result> The issue persists for the ODP file, but not in PPT file.(Shared by the initial reporter) and not in the 30MB test file used by the current tester.

Also, added the Custom Animation in the files used by Alexandra Casapu, the issue does not reoccur.

Observation

The issue does not occur for Larger/Smaller files with similar content) as the test file of the initial reporter.

Also, This happens only once and if the animation is changed, it does not reoccur.

In my Opinion, this issue might be one off, can not be replicated in other tests.
