Japanese input methods do not work

I would like to input japanese as I am studying. I am able to input japanese in Mozilla and also gedit and other applications, but I am not able to input Japanese in any of the Openoffice applications.
Component of this bug it is ja/www. ja/www is a component for the problem of a ja.openoffice.org web site content. Please re-set to l10n Component. and... "owner" and "qa contact" is default of ja/www component. Please change "Assigned To" field is dl@openoffice.org, and change "QA Contact" field is issues@l10n.openoffice.org. see, http://www.openoffice.org/issues/describecomponents.cgi?component=l10n

Please confirm on recent version. No type of input program was specified. Needs more information.
please change the summary to something human-readable in English. Google says 日本語で書いてどうですか? is "How is it written in Japanese?"
