Punctuations in PDF output
Last modified: 2003-06-30 14:49:19 UTC
Note: 1. this message is in UTF-8 format 2. I'm using 644_m4 Some of the punctuations just doesn't work... for example... 「ä¸Â文ã€Â(深水埗)became ï¹Âä¸Â文﹂︵深水埗︶ Well, does this bug apply to printing also? I have no ps printers so I can't try it.

cp->pl: glyph substitution ?
pl->hdu: please note the platform.
HDU->LWCHK: There is a good chance that it works in the meantime. It would be great if you could confirm the problem is still there. Need to find a system to recreate the problem...
using 644m11 (24-4-2003) and WinME, and the problem is still there... well, find systems to recreate? i guess you should be be better than me on that... i don't have resources to build nightlies. anyway, just install the fonts, enable CJK in oo, paste my first UTF-8 message, and publish. (oo didn't give an asian font when i paste the text, and chinese are rendered as rectangles until i switched the style from 'preformatted' to 'default'... where should i send this extra issue to?)

Changing status.
Fixed in CWS VCL13, will get in 1.1RC2. (tracker tasks 109639, 110440 )
HDU->US: When you verified 110440 please also change the status in this issue..
US->HI: Pls. verify together with internal task #110440#. Thanks.
There goes something wrong with Windows. I create a pdf file with VCL13 which is saved under ../HDU/11938.pdf Please have a look.
> There goes something wrong with Windows. > .. .Please have a look. A font was used that did not contain the required glyphs. Else it works just fine, so this problem is fixed. The problem with the document and its exported PDF mentioned above is that the detection if a fallback is needed is not yet 100% reliable. This is another issue. Anyway it is a bad idea to write something in a font that doesn't have the required letters. It's like writing chinese on a western typewriter using dots and commas and manual paper adjustments...
rassigning... please check with a font that contains all required characters to verify just this issue.
HI->HDU: As you seen on my machine there is still a problem.
HI: Ok, with Arial unicode it works also under windows, so we can say this issue is fixed.
