Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 11937
Install_OpenOffice.org1.0.1 will not install
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:53:51 UTC
My original posting read as follows: Whenever I click on the install icon, I get an error message - Cannot launch Java application main class "com.zerog.lax.LAX" could not be loaded. I am new to this stuff. What should I do? I am using OS 10.2.4. console reads: 2003-02-28 09:30:53.603 iCal[328] Launch of helper planned at : 02/28/03 10:30:53 [LaunchRunner Error] The main class "com.zerog.lax.LAX" could not be found. Maverick replied: hi jolly, First. Did you install the December or July 2002 Apple Developer Tools or a Java141DP? If so then this is a known bug. The Installer crashes with some DPs and with others he does his job. But there is a workaround for this problem since not only the OpenOffice Installer crahes but some other programs installers too. Take a look at this post here at the sourceforge forum. t is the fith post in the thread. The author is pdseniura. This helped me to solve the problem with the OOo installer. You should stick with Java 1_3 unless 1_4 is fully working with OS X and only relink to 1_4 if you truely need 1_4. Eric My reply to him was: I followed your instructions and Terminal returned this: java version "1.3.1" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1-root_1.3.1_020714-12:46) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_03-69, mixed mode) So I guess I am using 1.3 now Any help on how I can get this installed with minimum damage would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-jolly
