Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 118030
cell background colour not working at inverse display (=black background)
Last modified: 2017-05-20 09:57:28 UTC
- Problem Description: on my desktop I use black background and white letters as a system configuration("inverse display" is, as I hope the correct word in English). When the cell A1 for example is coloured red with the background color button of format toolbar, cell A1 will stay black as before. However the background color button in format toolbar becomes red, as soon as I highlight cell A1. So openoffice seems to "know", that cell A1 is coloured red, but it does not display it. - Further Information This happens in Winxp as well as in Ubuntu 10.04 Linux in the same way. However MS-Excel on the same laptop is able to display cell background colours in inverse display. So I conclude, that this is not a problem of video card but of openoffice itself. I get correct color display, when the desktop background is some dark grey. Beyond a limit, when the grey becomes too dark, color display will stop and the cells background will stay dark. With white background in system configurations there is no problem concerning color display. I posted the problem in the forum, but nobody could help me: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37506&p=172199&hilit=black+background#p172199 . The only response proposes: "In next version 3.3 you can restore the old behaviour under menu:Tools>Options>OOo>View: Selection Transparency=Off". I tried it: However in inverse display the transparency butten is grey = blocked. With white background the transparency button is not blocked.
By default, for a dark background color, "high contrast" mode is enabled. You can change that under Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org/Accessibility, with the checkbox "Automatically detect high contrast mode of operating system".
getting rid of value "enhancement" for field "severity". For enhancement the field "issue type" shall be used.
Unfortunately, the issue description is ambiguous, since it is not clear whether the user is using a "high-contrast black theme" (i.e. to increase contrast) or using colour inversion (an option in the Magnifier - which can be run without magnification - possibly in order to reduce the brightness of the screen, i.e. because black text on a white background is too bright). Colour inversion does not increase contrast, it just inverts all colours, whereas a high-contrast theme reduced the colour palette to colours with a higher contrast.

Hi Elish, I am using a "high-contrast black theme". Meanwhile there is Win7 on my desktop, however the problem stays unchanged. I write you an Email, since bugzilla doesnot let me enter, dont know, why, sorry. So, please write my comment into bugzilla and inform me, if any questions occure. Thanks
I attached tw-dark_025.theme, which I use in win7. Screenshot of ooo-calc is attached as well. Furthermore I attached tw-dark-ooo=ok_024.theme. ooo-calc is running properly, but Lotus Notes does not work any more. So I have to use tw-dark_025 Regards Thomas

Double click on attached theme but Calc doesn't look like attached png... ?
Store my tw-dark_025.theme in win7 into the folder: c:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\ beside the other themes.Open system administration and select this new theme. This should work.

I forgot the options of openofffice, sorry. Background of document = black; background of application = black; letters = white. Since I am at my home computer, the theme is slightly different. Problem is the same. Screenshot attached.
