Description osavill 2003-02-24 21:37:59 UTC
Us the spead sheet to create a new .dbf file of something like 200 entry columns
of say "Name", "Surname" and Address. Select the entire table and drag onto the
Bibliography Table tree item to setup a new dBase Biblio data base table, say
"Mailing List".

Then do:
1) File New --> Labels
2) Select the Bibliography data base and the newly created "Mailing List" Table.
3) Add the fields to the "Label text" box.
4) Ensure "Synchronize" is selected etc.
5) Press "New Document"

A single sheet of lables are produced.

6) Press the "Data Sources" button
7) Select the "Mailing List" source
The 200 entries are displayed in the right hand pane
8) Select all 200 entries in the table and press the "Data to Fields" button.

The single sheet fills up but that is all.

Try as I might the rest of the table entries simpy dissappear into the ether.
Even if "Continuous" is selected in the initial lable creation dialog only a
single sheet of labels is produced. I have scoured the help files but nothing
can tell me how to create multiple sheets of lables. It does, however, hint that
this should be automatic !!

Cheeky request follows !

I am going to meet with the client I am trying to set this mailing list up for.
They are fully behind the OOo approach as opposed to the M$ Excel +
Word mail merge.

Would it be at all possible to look at this OR so I can at least say that a fix is
in hand ?

I would be most gratefull since currently this is an important issue to them
and they are an all M$ house.

Thanks,
Owen

Any chance of some activity on this one ? I know that it is probably
low priority but some guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

could you attach the db file tht doesn't work?
It would be easier for us to test it then.
Can you get other data sources to produce multiple labels?
Comment 4 osavill 2003-05-10 21:45:42 UTC
Well it's not that hard to do :-)

I've added a few more entries to the standard `biblio' Bibliography
database that comes with OOo.

I had to go back to 643 to create the labels since 1.1beta seems to
come with no Avery labels at all !!!

I will attach the created Labels.sxw and the edited biblio.dbf
