Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 11494
Error showing font "Windings" in a spreadsheet cell.
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
When I use the character "" (ALT-0142) with "Windings" font in a cell, it doesn't show it correctly. Instead it displays a square. If you open the same file with Microsoft Excel 2000 the font appears correct.
Hi Herbert, this one seems to be yours. Frank
changing Target
Accepted.
As there is a lot of higher priorities to do I cahnge the target to OOo2.0 Frank
According to the OOo roadmap retargeting to 'OOo Later'.
.
In Ubuntu 9.10 with OpenOffice.org OOO320m11 Calc I see LATIN CAPITAL LETTER Z WITH CARON (017D) if the cell is using "Windings" font in spreadsheet from Windows. So this special letter is correct I think even in Ubuntu and of course in Windows. There is some black and white boxes and empty cells with some other letters/signs in Ubuntu, but Windings is not a Ubuntu font. In Windows font seems to me working normally. Case closed?
The problem is still present with OpenOffice 3.2.1, in Windows Vista (at least). How to reproduce: 1) create an Excel file 2) On a cell, select "Wingdings 2" font 3) Enter character using Alt+0153 (this is a circle) 4) Save the file 5) Open this file with OpenOffice 6) The displayed character is "TM" (trademark), not the circle anymore! :-( Thank you to reopen this bug, please! Regards.
Maybe the latest observation is related to issue 113016 which is fixed in DEV300_m84. Please test.
Note: make sure that no obsolete version of the OpenSymbol font is installed on the test system
