Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 11456
Changing preferences causes documents to appear to be damaged.
Last modified: 2003-05-28 11:17:49 UTC
I have a set of documents, which all open fine, I changed some preferences, such as using points for measurements, and inches for ruler display. When next I open OO, the documents will not open, and cause the program to crash, leading one to think that the documents have somehow been damaged. However, if you de-install OO and then reinstall it, all of the documents appear to be fine. Workaround? Don't even think about setting any preferences. Interestingly, documents saved after the settings are changed are fine, and open up in the default settings as well. Weird bug, and very serious
What type of documents do you use (Writer, Draw, Impress ?) Can you provide an example (as attachment)?
Created attachment 4744 [details] This is a file which exhibits the behavior described.
I really only use Writer and Calc, but both have this problem.
I was not able to reproduce this bug on Windows 98, even when using the attached file. Thanks for submitting.
I tried the file with 1.0.3 german version under WIN98SE. I can't see any crash or problems to reopen the document after I activated a vertical ruler and changed measurement from cm to inches. But an ugly effect was: After I changed from cm to inches, the screen looked as shown in the next attachment, and I was not able to work further in the document. I had to save and to reopen it, afterwords everything worked fine, unti I rechanged from inches to cm, then the same problem reappeared Rainer
