Hi,

I would like to request an additional functionality for the "Export as PDF..."
feature.

That is an option to create the PDF with contents as an image. In other words,
to create the same effect as printing a hardcopy and then scanning the hardcopy
to create a PDF.

This would be similar to the "Print as image" check-box that can be found in the
print dialog for Adobe Acrobat Reader (in the MS Windows version at least).

The purpose is two-fold:

1) To know the PDF will be rendered correctly in all possible situations.

2) To make it less trivial for the PDF to be tampered with, without resorting to
digital signing.

Prime motivation for this request is 2) above. I know that "Export as PDF..."
already includes the possibility for a password to be set on the PDF however I
believe that a PDF "restricted" in this way can be trivially defeated with the
right tools (although to be honest I have not tried).

In any case regardless of tamper-protection, I think an "As image" option would
be a useful feature addition.

The same effect is possible with a long-winded workaround:

* Export to PDF as usual.

* Open the PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

* In Acrobat, do: File -> Print -> Advanced -> "Print as image".

* Print using a postscript printer driver, but print to file.

* Use Ghostscript to re-convert the resulting PS file back into PDF format.

Of course the PDF filesize is larger as it contains an image, but this is to be
accepted.

feature request, user experience should prioritize this
