Description rognyl01 2010-08-11 22:10:49 UTC
We have installed OpenOffice on my spouse's computer. When we started working
with a calc sheet and used letters from the right side of the keyboard, it
didn't work. When I pressed m for example it printed 0, when I pressed i it
printed 5 and so on. I Then pressed Fn first and then m, and then it printed m.
I tried to get rid of the problem, by restarting, closing down, changing sheets
and so on, but the problem was still there. Then I thought that something was
wrong with our pc so I formatted it and installed all programs and Microsoft's
hot fixes again with a lot of extra work. After that the computer worked ok
again.
Today my spouse needed to use an excel sheet and as we don't want to buy
Microsoft's expensive program I decided to download Open Office to his computer
again. Download was ok and it was ok to start working with a calc sheet again.
After sometime the same problem accured again. As I haven't done any other
downloads or changed anything, I'm sure that this problem arose when we started
using OpenOffice, calc sheet. I can still not get rid of the problem. What to
do? I really don't want to format the pc again. Can you please help me?
Best regards

Hi Annalisa,

Based on your description this really seems like a laptop behaviour when certain
function keys are pressed/activated. I know, because I recognize this problem
very well.

Probably the Num lock key has been pressed, or any other key. You don't have to
reinstall the computer, you just have to find out how your computer works.

In any way, this is most probably not an OpenOffice.org issue, which is why I
will close it.

If you still feel that you have this problem, contact the pc manufacturer.

If you reply to this issue, please continue to do so in English.

Best Regards
