Description Unknown 2003-02-10 13:32:30 UTC
I have tried to run the install program on a Sun Solaris computer, logged in as
root, using:

./install

However this does not work, and the following error message is displayed:

# ./install
Installation starting, please be patient ...
ld.so.1: ./setup: fatal: libCrun.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
Killed

What is going wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks.

Regards,

Hi Kevin,
I think you are more familiar with the install script. I've tried with
OOo 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 and can't reproduce. Maybe you have an idea.

Hi,

Actually I don't think the install.sh script works under Solaris at
all since mktemp shell command does not exist under stock
Solaris and that should result in an error.

I would strongly recommend the user tries the following to do a net
install and see what error if any appears

Unpack the OOo 1.0.1 installer
su (to beceome root to isntall where ever you want)
./setup -net

Then please let us know what errors if any are reported.

Hi,

Thanks for the extra info. I tried the using ./setup -net but
unfortuneately this did not work either. Please see the display
below:

# pwd
/openofficeinstall/install
# ls -l s*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 118949 6014 131236 Jul 12 2002 setup
-rw-rw-r-- 1 118949 6014 364573 Jul 12 2002 setup.ins
# ./setup -net
ld.so.1: ./setup: fatal: libCrun.so.1: open failed: No such file or
directory
Killed

Hi,

Sorry to pass the buck but the problem then has nothing to do with
the install.sh installation script.

Have you checked to see if your version of Solaris and patches meets
the requirements for OOo to work (check out the website for what
patches and things are needed)?

My guess is the library you are missing is either the C++ or C
runtime library which probably means you are missing either a
symlink to properly support versioning or are missing the compilers
runtime libs in question.

Sorry I can't be more help here. I just don't know Solaris well
enough.

Reassigning this one back to installation in the hops someone form
Hamburg or Sun may be able to help you better.

Hi James,
are you shure that your machine has the recommended patch level? Have
you also retried with Ooo 1.0.2?

Sorry for the SPAM, but issue 16307 is not a DUP of this issue.

I think, this issue might be a DUP of issue 10863.

Could someone pls. check this?

Closing issue due to inactivity as WFM.

Please open a new issue if the problem still exists in the latest
release of OOo.
