Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 113398
print-by-chapter option
Last modified: 2013-07-26 15:02:39 UTC
In large documents, the page numbering doesn't always correspond to the absolute page numbers and so sometimes it's difficult to get the page ranges right when printing just a chapter of said large document. A feature in the print menu to "Print By Chapter" would be very useful. Obviously, you have to have at least one chapter defined in order to use it, but if you don't have a chapter defined, then the option would just be greyed out.
Another approach might be to access this through the Navigator, which already knows about document sections as defined by the headings. A context menu on the Navigator headings, right-click > Print Section, could set the appropriate page range for the File > Print dialog. Alternatively, if Writer provided a way to select a section from the Navigator, that would allow the user to use File > Print normally and choose the Print range > selection option.
Reassigned to requirements.
Good idea. Many documents have roman numerals in first pages and then file page number differs from document page number. Proposed solution: File - Print... - General - Range and copies -> add radio buttons to switch between Document and Absolute.
