Description Unknown 2003-02-02 21:48:13 UTC
When running spell checking utility, the program gets to the end of the document
and crashes. Quite frustrating...

Hi,

I am the developer of the spellchecking module for OOo.

I can not recreate your problem at all under Linux. Also there have
not been any reports of similar problems under Solaris, MacOSX, etc.

So perhaps this problem is Window's specific (I have seen one other
related bug report from a Windows 2000 user).

Can you please provide some additional information?

1. Is this a stock version of OOo 1.0.2 with no additional
spellcheck dictionaries, hypehnation dictionaries or thesaurui
added?

2. If not, then can you tell me what additional dictionaries you
have installed and how you installed them. Did you remember to shut
off Quickstarted after doing the installs?

3. Can you recreate the problem on the older 1.0.1 build or is this
bug specific to 1.0.2?

4. Can you provide any relevant Windows specific info that might
allow someone here to recreate this problem on a Windows box? Does
it happen with any one language or any one document?

Thanks,

Kevin

Adding Frank to this to find out if fix from issue 4502 actually
made it into OOo 1.0.2 or may have been dropped.

 Hi Frank,

Could you take a look at this bug report and let me know if this may
be related to your fix for Issue 4502?

Could that fix have somehow been dropped for OOo 1.0.2 by mistake or
someohow the bug reintroduced?

Any hints you might have would be greatly appreciated since I can
not recreate this on my Linux box at all.

Thanks,

Kevin

FME->Kevin: There haven't been any changes from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2. One
more question: Does the program crash or freeze? #i10876# reports a crash.

 Hi Frank,

Thanks for the tip about issue 10876. I think they are unrelated.
I thing the user simply installed the dictionary incorrectly or the
pt_BR.aff file is corrupt somehow.

How I wish we could simply integrate all the dictioanries directly
into CVS! It would reduce these complaints greatly!

For this issue, let's wait until the submitter adds in the aditional
info I requested (if they are using the standard en_US or added a
new dictionary and if so how).

I just wanted to make sure that someone can spellcheck a long
document under en_US successfully with no crashes under WIN just to
be safe and that no fixes from 1.0.1 had been dropped.

Thanks,

Kevin

I tested the std stock English OOo 1.0.2 spellchecker on a win98se box
on a 10 page test procedure, full of words unknown to the
spellchecker, just because the words are not really real words...just
signal names, etc. I told the spellchecker to ignore at each word it
found. It ran thru the entire document, and finished as expected with
no crashes. I am willing to run whatever tests may be req'd on the
std 1.0.2 to help verify this issue, if more info (perhaps a longer
test file?) is provided.

Another question for beauX@OOo: How long is the document that you are
working with?

Spellchecker doesn't crash for me on WinMe and OOo1.1beta2.

beauX, if this is still happening with release 1.1rc1 of
OpenOffice (due out any week now), please send in a crash log,
and we'll reopen the issue. Thanks!
