Description pmladek 2010-03-26 20:42:59 UTC
The poscript fonts might be defined by the following file types:

    .pfb - font data
    .afm - Adobe font metrics
    .pfm - Printer Font Metrics

OOo-3.2 lists this font only when .afm file is installed. The .pmf file is
enough for other application, e.g kwrite, gimp.

User reports that older OOo versions supported the .pfm files, see
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=584326

Is this a bug or feature that it does not work with OOo-3.2?
Was the .pfm format insufficient for OOo?

For example, you might get the poscript fonts from the package
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.2/repo/oss/suse/i586/ghostscript-fonts-std-8.64-6.1.i586.rpm

That user report is wrong. OOo has never supported .pfm files. If he could use
his fonts before, then he had an accompanying .afm. Whether .pfm files are
usable I don't know, as far as I know they are simply a binary representation of
the afm, so if we get a parser for them, we could make this work.
