Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 108141
Make a full-fledged web editor like MS Frontpage
Last modified: 2010-01-08 07:00:42 UTC
Tons of new Linux users are longing for a true WYSIWYG alternative for the popular html editor MS Frontpage. Existing Linux web editors, such as KompoZer (which is really the only true WYSIWYG web editor for Linux), don't have the user-friendliness and feature-rich options as Frontpage had. The lack of a true Frontpage replacement is one of the main reasons I personally keep a Windows dual boot with my Linux OS. I highly recommend you create a full-featured html editor for OOo suite to be a true Linux alternative to MS Frontpage which was favored by amateur web builders, the largest market for web editors. If you do and make it produce decent code (unlike Frontpage did apparently), OOo will be the hottest app in Linux world and beyond!
I forgot to add, a lot of former MS Frontpage users, including myself, find OOo's existing WYSIWYG html editor "Writer/Web" is the closet thing to Frontpage, but understand Writer/Web isn't meant to be a true web builder, hence our sadness. =(
