Description rpersse 2010-01-07 03:10:03 UTC
Using Windows XP with Chinese fonts installed as well as English.
Open Office OOO310m11 (Build 9399)
Firefox 3.5.7

I go to http://www.worldlingo.com/en/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html
and translate English to Simplified Chinese. The characters look OK on the web
page. Then I copy the Chinese characters from the webpage into the ODT file.
Some of the characters are now just squares. This problem does not occur with
Microsoft Word, so I'm forced to use Word for this.
This is not urgent, just annoying.

Example of problem:

I understand what you are saying.
I don’t understand what you are saying.
Do you understand what I am saying?

Translation. When copied to OO Writer document some of these are just squares.

I cannot confirm this problem. The characters are all pasted properly. I tested
with OOo 3.1 (which corresponds to your build), 3.1.1 and 3.2rc1.
The characters are pasted as font "SimSun" on my system. What happens in your OOo?

When I copy the characters to OOo they appear as Andale Sans UI.
I changed them to Sim Sun and they now appear correctly.
I found the Font FAQ for OpenOffice.org wiki. This has lots of detailed info for
 font problems.

Thanks for the suggestion.
