I reported some time ago -sorry I lost the reference- that when I run open
office for the third time after installation, it crashes mysteriously. 
Abit more information:
On Windows it runs fine.
On Linux, RH 7.3 it crashes.

I have since found that this only happens with the Gnome GUI. It works fine with
KDE. 
This means that the "Gnome integration" in the set up program is probably faulty.
However on the old (max 200MHz) machines that I work on, Gnome is significanly
faster.

I am keen to get this working properly, as I run a voluteer project in Swaziland
 to revive abandoned PCs for schools, and am dependant on open source sotware.
