Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 107195
Fail to dock Task Pane and Slide pane
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:20:06 UTC
When dragging out the slide pane or the task pane it is very hard (nearly impossible under window) to dock it again. A double click +CTRL helps a lot but it only docks it back into the previous position. This works much better under linux/Unix..
Confirming. Task Pane and Slide pane cannot be docked on the left unless it is docked on the right before. I tried with Ubuntu Linux 9.10 as well as Windows 2000. (1) Open a new presentation (2) Task Pane is docked on the right side. Slide Pane is docked on the left side. (3) Grab the title of the Task Pane or the Slide Pane and drag the pane to the center of the application window. Pane will be undocked (floating). (4) Again, grab the title of the pane and try to dock it on the left side of the application window. --> You won´t be able to dock it. (5) Again, grab the title of the pane and try to dock it on the right side of the application window. --> This should be successfull. (6) Docking a pane on the left side of the application window by drag&drop is only possible, if the pane is already docked on the right side and you drag it from there directly to the left.
Addition: Confirming initial statement from wg, with Windows it´s not possible to redock a pane at all. With Linux it works like discribed in steps (1) - (6). Under Linux (with compiz) it seems to be helpfull that you can drag the pane temporarily to the next desktop. This actually enables dragging the pane back to its docked position.
I found here: http://openoffice.blogs.com/openoffice/2007/01/redocking_the_s.html That you can dock it by ctrl-clicking the grey area next to the word Slides. This worked for me in linux.
Yes, but this only works for the last docked position. If you have dragged off the bar and docked it to the bottom, dragged it loose again and want it to get it on the left side again this trick does not work. You can only get it back to the bottom.
