Description Mechtilde 2009-11-19 11:08:53 UTC
After discussion on the German user list I did some test under Win using
different versions of IE.

I tried to download an Extension (*.oxt) and save it to the disk the extenion is
saved as a zip file (*.zip).

After this OpenOffice.org can't import it.

This doesn't happen with Firefox and Safari.

It is not a good idea that OpenOffice.org didn't read the header of the file but
the file extension

I do the test under Win XP 32 bit with IE 5.5, IE 6, IE 7, IE 8 on different
maschines

and under Vista64 bit with IE 8 32 bit and IE 8 64 bit

I cannot reproduce this.

I tried with W2K and IE 6 as well as WXP and IE 7.

Both deliver a fine oxt-File.

Comment 5 tkr 2009-12-14 07:49:10 UTC
- The download process of an extension via IE is out of scope of OpenOffice.org.
Perhaps the transformation from .oxt to .zip is caused by a misconfigured
website or IE.

- Accept .zip files as OpenOffice.org extension is an enhancement of the
extension manager.

JL please take over.

That IE wants to save a zip instead of oxt is a configuration issues of the
webserver. However, even if you save it as zip, OOo can install it. What exactly
is the problem? Can you provide or name an extension which failed to install?

BTW, double clicking the zip file in the file explorer will not install the
extension, unless you have configured your system that OOo handles zip files.

Closing. Maybe reopend if further input is available.
Comment 8 Mechtilde 2010-01-28 16:43:00 UTC
I tried several extensions from extensions.services.openoffice.org.

I tried it with IE 7 and 8 under Win XP and IE 8 under Vista 64 bit.

set, when sending; example: wget -S

Now fixed;
Header is set to extension oxt, my win7 with IE stores the files with .oxt
extension now.
