Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 105658
Can not save transparent images.
Last modified: 2009-11-20 05:17:12 UTC
Dear Sir, I was experimenting on usage of transparent images in OpenOffice.Org writer software, for some purpose. I am using version 3.1.1 (Debian - Ubuntu). My problem: When I inserted a .gif format transparent image into a document (document was in .doc format), I could see the transparent property of the image. i.e. any object (text or image) was visible through the transparent image. But when I saved and closed then again re-opened the document, the image lost its transparency and it appeared as if it is a Square box filled with white. No transparency of the image. Please let us know if I were wrong somewhere.
Please provide a sample file to evaluate. Thanks.
Problem is not that the transparency is lost - Writer sets background color "white" for the graphic. See issue 43371. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 43371 ***

in version 2.2 if a background is set to a % of transparency, it copies over into PDF file. With the 3.0 and higher, the transparency % is lost and the background is at full color. Is there a way to fix OR get 2.2 loaded on a Vista computer?
