Openoffice.org 3.1.1 [310m19 (build:9420)] appears to crash on start-up if the application is invoked 
using the open with route from the document.

If OpenOffice is already running the problem does not occur.

Running Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerPC, attempting to open Word format documents, but previously also 
Excel format documents.

Have trashed previous preferences.

I am using OS X 10.8.4

Desktop/OpenOffice.org.app is OpenOffice.org 3.4.1
/Applications/OpenOffice.app is OpenOffice.org 4.0.0
all test with no versions of openoffice started.

$ open Desktop/OpenOffice.org.app Desktop/example.odt 
   the 3.4.1 application chooser is opened
   the 4.0.0 Writer application is opened with the document

$ open /Applications/OpenOffice.app Desktop/example.odt 
   the 4.0.0 Writer application is opened with the document

$ open Desktop/OpenOffice.org-IT.app 
   the 3.4.1 application chooser is opened

$ open /Applications/OpenOffice.app
   the 4.0.0 application chooser is opened

but no crashes, Is this a wrong test?
