Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 10447
capitalization doesn't understand abbreviations and initial
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
When the automatic first letter capitalization is enabled, it capitalizes letters without taking into account that the previous word is initial or abbreviation. For example, typing "Rabtchevich A.V. has..." causes "has" to be capitalized to "Has". Other case is a abbreviation with dots within it, for example, "ph.d. is...". Language doesn't matter. So the suggestion is not to capitalize automaticaly first letter of a word after dot, if the dot is preceded by a letter.
Sorry, little correction is needed. ...not to capitalize automaticaly first letter of a word after dot, if the dot is preceded by letter (s), preceded by a dot without any spaces.
Another addition is: abbreviations which consist from several letters separated with dots are not recognized as one entity and are breaked at the end of a line. So part of the word is translated to the next line, what is incorrect.
Still exists at 1.1 beta on Win2000.
Still exists in 1.1 beta on Win2000.
Exists in 1.0.3 as well.
Alexander and Robert, thank you for using and supporting OOo. This is not a bug. Please see issue 2491. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 2491 ***
