Description miko11 2002-12-22 18:57:10 UTC
In the Query Design window, it is possible to enter "raw" SQL code. This is an
important feature, making it possible to "go around" some of the limitations of
the graphical ui when required.

However, using LDAP datasources, is is not possible to issue "raw" LDAP queries
- they are "mapped" to SQL in a way not documented anywhere(?). Given the
overall situation for the LDAP datasource, a loophole to issue "raw" LDAP
queries would possibly solve some problems.

Michael, thanks for using and supporting OOo.

I change the issue type from ENHANCEMENT to FEATURE - this would
require quite some architectural changes, so I think it's more than an
enhancement.

The query design does only know SQL-capable data source, the LDAP data
source is a very special case which would need to be treated very
special - except some very low layer
((http://dba.openoffice.org/specifications/address_book_architecture.html,
if you're interested in :), no component in OOo is aware of the fact
that it's dealing with "LDAP mapped to a database table" ...

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
