Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 10261
numbering styles unusable
Last modified: 2010-11-10 17:21:13 UTC
(Oo 643 on linux) When I apply a numbering style on some ordered lists, the style get applied correctly, but the number continues between lists with the style (i.e., the first list 1., 2., 3., the second 4., 5.). Setting "Line Numbering/Restart at this paragraph" in Paragraph styles does not work. The only way to correct it seems to be: select each list with the style applied, change "start at" value in Numbers/bullets options dialog, and change it back to 1 (effectively making a copy of the custom style) --- very cumbersome. Anyone care clarify this?
Reassigned to MRU
This is of course not a bug!!! Numbering styles were designed to behave like this! Numbering styles and their special behaviour (to continue the numbering in a different place of the document) were once implemented because of many users requests. You can restart the counting of a numbered list formatted with these numbering styles in the paragraph format. Place the cursor in the paragraph where the numbering should be restarted, go to Format.Paragraph.Numbering and click the desired option in the group "Numbering". Note: due to conceptional limitations this feature is only available via Format.paragraph, not in the paragraph style.
A feature won't be fixed, so issue closed.
