Description jap1st 2009-06-07 19:37:30 UTC
When scrolling down in a text document (detected in .odt), the view returns to
the last place where the text cursor was positioned, which can be quite
annoying. It only appears to occur with mouse scrolling (in my case with a
laptop touch pad), not with sidebar scrolling.

This issue appeared after upgrading to OO.o 3.1.0 build 9399. It does not occur
in OO.o 3.0.1 or any other 3rd party applications.

Steps for reproducibility:
1. Must have several paragraphs or pages of text (at least 1 or 2 pages so the
scrolling is significant).
2. Place the cursor anywhere in the text.
3. Scroll down* (with the mouse scrolling wheel or touch pad scrolling area) to
some other section of the text where the text cursor is no longer visible. <--
After doing this, the view should return to the place where the text cursor was
positioned.
4. If you scroll down again to the place you supposedly wanted to go to (without
repositioning the text cursor), the view does not return any more. Thus, it only
happens the first time right after you position the cursor.

* It only seems to occur when scrolling down, not when scrolling up.

Cannot reproduce on Vista.
Do you have installed extensions? Which ones?
Comment 2 jap1st 2009-06-09 01:40:57 UTC
Extensions installed during fist instance of error:

- English spelling and hyphenation dictionaries and thesaurus (enabled).
- Spanish spelling dictionary (enabled).
- French "Classic and reform 1990" spelling, thesaurus and hyphenation v3.2.0
(disabled).

I could also reproduce the error after disabling the 3 extensions and restarting
OpenOffice.

---
As a separate note: My OpenOffice had more extensions before updating to OO.o
3.1.0, but they suddenly disappeared after the update (could this be reported as
a bug?), leaving no trace in the uno_packages folder.
---

Update: The bug also occurs when scrolling up, not just down.
Comment 3 jap1st 2009-06-09 15:19:40 UTC
Update: It cannot be reproduced on Fedora 10 either - same OO.o version (3.1.0
build 3999) with same extensions (all enabled).

It could be specific to the Windows x86 port of OpenOffice.

I also have this issue since a long time, while mouse scrolling. (On XP and on
Vista)
May be the bug is the same of this one:

There are sufficient people reporting this issues, it should be confirmed by now.

This also happens to me with OOo 3.1.0 build 9399 and Ubuntu - Hardy Heron (8.04).
