Actually this happens on all platforms as long as you use "archive" package format (which is the default - with no replacement - on mac). Same thing happens on Linux. And please file issues to someone remotely responsible.
and since this has terminally broken the MacOS build (on Linux you have the rpm or dpkg alternative to archive installtion sets), this is a P1
