WW8: "Column - Width" only resizes 1 cell

Open attached file. Select first column by mouse keypressed. Press rigth mouse key, select Column - Width. Change column width in field, for example, make it for 5 cm. and submit. Only first line cell is enlarged. Why? In another way, without column selected. Take cursor in any cell in first column. Press right mouse key, select Column - Width too. And change it. Only current cell will be changed.

Please read: http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html - We need a meaningful summary describe in short the problem (have a look at my correction) - the exact OOo version you are using: if it's not an error from you 2.3.1 is far too old, please use the 3.1rc2 - please stuck as far as possible to the UI names: here it's not "spreadsheet" but "table" - Don't ask "why"? :) It's not a place to get answers here but to solve problems by fixing issues. Either the answer is "because it's a bug" (and the answer was not so interesting) or there is no problem and we will explain why while closing the issue anyway :) Anyway: Thanx for helping us! :) @MRU: known issue? Regardless if a column is selected or not: "Column - Width" will only resize 1 cell. Confirmed in DEV300m48

MRU->OS: changing the column width of the first column will only affect the first row.
>Only first line cell is enlarged. Why? The dialog for tables with merged cells shows you the number of cells in the first row. The dialog with merged cells can't have clear columns and clear rows. This is why one the first cells with equal widths are resized by this dialog. For example, in your attached file, there is no second row. Such tables should be edited by moving borders and merging or splitting cells. In the first attached file, you can't move the first border to make a 5 cm column, because it will not move after 1,58 cm, because there are another border at 1,77 cm that have a 0,19 cm space to the left. This is not a bug. The dialog can change only the first rows with equal width cells.
A table with merged cells can't have clear columns and clear rows. This is why only the first row is resized by this dialog.

md->es: I checked this in OOo 2.4.0 and OOo 2.4.2 again. I can't confirm that this ever worked. So it's not a regression. => removing keyword "regression" accordingly User "fyva" already pointed out the details very good. This is not a defect. I suggest closing this issue accordingly.
