Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 100280
In 'Format - Page - Columns' preview columns do not fill all page width for big page widths
Last modified: 2014-01-04 09:11:45 UTC
When I try to define columns using the menu Format>Page, tab for "columns", the preview and the "Width and spacing" dialog do not work correctly, if the page is very wide. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a blank Writer document. 2. Menu Format>Page, change the page width to something large like 200cm, OK. 3. Open the dialog Format>Page again, go to the columns tab. 3a. Choosing a layout with more than 1 column, the preview does not fill the page. 3b. If you try to define the columns manually with the Width and Spacing section, it does not work. You cannot use all the space on the page to define columns. However, in the rest of the application, the columns seem to work. Just the preview does not work.
MRU->PB: in Format.Page dialog, set a page width of about 150cm, go to "Columns" tab page and select two or more columns -> the preview control does not show the columns correctly. Does not happen in Format.Columns dialog, only Format.Page.Columns works incorrectly.
Additional Info --------------- (a) Still reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Dev – English UI / English locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1554205 - 2014-01-01]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile. (b) Problem came up with more realistic page preview. Until OOo 2 preview in dialog 'Format -> Page -> Columns' always a portrait sheet was shown Starting with 3.0 (I checked 3.1.1) the preview become more realistic and shows realistic height/with relation. With this preview the reported problem started. (c) There are additional problems, for example under particular circumstances (currently I do not know exactly what ones) it becomes impossible to add columns, columns counter spin box keeps "1". (d) For me problem starts somewhere at page widths 200 cm (e) Same With LibO 3.5.7.2 on UBUNTU Linux (VirtualBox), so OS=ALL (f) Dialog 'Format -> Columns' still shows the "old" not realistic preview, what is not affected. (g) Same in Lotus Symphony 3
