Opening a new issue since the problem is clarified.

Install 641d as user root.  Do not fill-out the user profile information.  I
used /usr/local/lib/OpenOffice.org641 as the install directory.  Add link at
/usr/local/bin/soffice to /usr/local/lib/OpenOffice.org641/program/soffice.

Run soffice.  Open new spreadsheet. SaveAs... to /tmp/foo.  Application will
crash with message:

  "An unrecoverable error has occurred."

If it still isn't clear, make sure to run soffice as a normal user.

Hi Ellf,
please do not file new reports to new issues because the resulting
information spreads in several threads. You can reopen an existing
issue and add comments every time you want.
