Sorry, it's Format > Styles > Catalog > Page And wouldn't you know it -- having just filed an issue, it's suddenly stopped doing it! Working perfectly now. Can't reproduce it any more after reproducing it 4 times in a row. Spoke too soon. It has not fixed itself after all. Problem still occurs, just not as "reliably" as before. Reassigned to Michael. Hm, at the moment I am not able to reproduce this problem (on Win2000). But this problem is not related to issue 2525. There you have a hang-up on modifying a certain paragraph style (one of the pre-defined headings). You have a crash (with an error message) on creating a page style. So both problems are different; also the problem from 2525 is fixed (have a look at issue 1366). So I´ll try to install OO also on a WinNT machine later, maybe I can reproduce it there. Created attachment 1063 [details]
Example of a file demonstrating the crash
Hm, I am still not able to reproduce this. My last idea: the printer settings are confusing to OpenOffice. So please tell me which printer you use and which page settings are valid in the printer drive (and also if youare using duplex or sth. like that). Thank you! 3302 was opened to add info to this one. The description from jc129@openoffice.org (Jeremy Chatfield) read <QUOTE> As with the original report, I can reproduce this with a new or existing OOo document. Select "Format", "Styles", "Catalog". In the Style Catalog, choose "Page styles", then click the "New" button. Bang. Autosave of document, and autorecovery. So far, 100% consistent. Tried three existing OOo documents, two new untitled OOo documents. Platform is an AMD K6-2/350, 128MB RAM, plenty of free disk. Windows ME, up to date with windowsupdate.microsoft.com. as at 27-02-2002. Have previously installed StarOffice 6.0 Beta, but have different directory for OpenOffice. Not sure what else is relevant but am happy to provide any details needed. <UNQUOTE> I will close 3302 as duplicate. *** Issue 3302 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** I've just discovered this for myself too. It does not depend on having any text selected - just "format - style - catalogue -(select page styles) - new" is enough to cause the unrecoverable error. Each and every time. The multi-tabbed dialogue for setting up the style appears, and then so does the box announcing the unrecoverable error. I'm running 1.0.1 on a Suse 7.2 installation, twin AMD processors and shedloads of Ram. I'm starting the application under Gnome on the sawfish windows manager, but the same thing happens on the KDE or mwm as well. I did the install by the book - original install as root, user install as a network copy (although on the local machine) as a user. There is nothing useful in /var/logs or the ~/.OpenOffice-blah-blah tree. Now, reading what has been said before, I decided to check the effect of altering the printer: When I open the printer dialogue it is set to 'generic printer', not to any of my queues. I'e tried altering the printer to each of my queues in turn, and it still goes wrong in nust the same way. New page styles work fine in the spreadsheet, and I havn't found page styles in any of the other applications. I have observed the same problem. In my case I did (in a new blank document) Format -> Style -> Catalog -> Character and the program immediately crashed. I was able to repeat this several times. (cont'd) BTW I am running OOo 1.0.1 on Debian GNU/Linux. Machine is a Pentium III laptop with 128 MiB RAM, nothing much else running. MRU->PB: Do you have an idea of have heard about such problems? As long as we cannot reproduce it in the QA, can you see something from the code, where it might crash when the dialog is opened? PB -> MRU: I detected an access violation exception, whenn I click the "New" button. So you can send this bug to me (perhaps with target Beta 2). Reassigned to Peter for fixing. Thanks. Accepted. Hmm, not able to reproduce with 1.1.0. aelfgifu: can you try with a copy of 1.1.0? We should finally get rid of that crash. Re-targeted to OO 2.0 now. I've installed 1.1.1 & can't reproduce this in Windows 2000. I will try again at home with Windows XP Home version. Have now tried at home (also 1.1.1) using XP Home version 5.1 Build 2600 SP-1, and cannot reproduce the error . I believe you've fixed it. Well done, guys. pb -> mru: so we can close it? I can't repoduce this crash too and also the exception isn't thrown. Looks like we finally got rid of this crash. Closed. |
