Setup:
Debian sid, Xfree 4, Linux 2.2

Reproduction:
1. su installinguser
2. Start setup, complete it.
3. su normaluser
4. Go to installation dir
5. Start ./soffice or program/swriter

Actual result:
Unable to retrieve application configuration data: Cannot locate Configuration:
Invalid user installationCancelled

Expected result:
Application starts up.

Additional Comments:
I have no idea, what went wrong.
I tried to chown the installation to the user who runs openoffice, but no change.
Well pososible that I did something wrong, but I found no document describing
what I *should* do - the readme is practically empty.
Comment 1 Unknown 2001-09-23 11:52:38 UTC
I selected custom installation and selected on Writer Program Module
and Help. A default install works.

s/on/only/
Comment 3 Unknown 2001-09-25 11:16:51 UTC
It's either Writer Templates or Writer Samples. If I install all Writer
components, but nothing else, it works.
Comment 4 Unknown 2001-09-27 13:27:48 UTC
Experienced the same behavior as described only in this case nothing
is loading up. Tried Complete, Custom then Min Installation same result.

Also tried to run swriter, smath, scalc, sweb with same result

Setup:
SuSe 6.4, XFree 4.1, Linux 2.4.9

Actual Result:
Unable to retrieve application configuration data: Cannot locate
Configuration: Invalid user installationAborted
Comment 5 Olaf Felka 2001-10-04 12:09:11 UTC
This is not an Issue. Every user has to make his own installation
to get the configuration files to start OOo.
Comment 6 Unknown 2001-10-04 12:21:33 UTC
It is an issue that nobody told me so. I have a nice GUI to do
something, and the result is a crash. Definitely a bug. REOPENing.

Also,
> Every user has to make his own installation

I did start the installation as the user who later started soffice,
neverthelelss it crashed. It crashes whenever certain components are
not installed. If components are required for operation, you cannot
make them optional in the installer.

So this are two issues:
- poorly documented installation: issue 1772
- writer module only doesn't work:
this I can't reproduce.
I RH7.1 and OOo638C and writer only or writer and help works fine.
Comment 8 Olaf Felka 2001-12-07 10:41:55 UTC
Works for me.
