If I enable Auto Spellcheck in OOo1.1beta2, the setting will not be saved the next
time I open Writer or Calc, for instance.

Version 1.0 used to save this option. It'd be nice to have it persistent again. Is
this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi,

As far as I can tell this is not under the control of the lingucomponent project.
So I am changing this to the Writer project so that someone from Hamburg sees it
and can figure out whose problem this really is.

I use Win2K and have the same problem.
I must add that it also does not save the selected language (Options
-> Language settings -> Languages >-> Default language for documents.
Here I set "Italian" (yes, "For the current document only" is
unchecked) but when I reload the program, English (default) is set again.
I've solved it replacing linguistic.xcu with the one I had under 1.02,
so now I've Italian and Auto Spellcheck set AND now if I change it (or
the language) the change remains (consider this as a workaround)!
(\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\Linguistic.xcu)
I've checked and the "original" file is *not* read only.
The only difference I've found in the two files are that in 1.1b2
items have a lot more of
"op="replace""
in various items, like in:
<prop oor:name="it-IT" oor:op="replace" oor:type="xs:string">
<value>org.openoffice.lingu.LibHnjHyphenator</value>

also
node oor:name="SpellChecking"
and
node oor:name="General"
are in different order in 1.1b2, but I can't understand if maybe in
wrong level of indentation

regards
Marco Menardi

The Dutch 1.1 beta 2 for Windows has this problem as well.

English:
I have a new workaround for this issue. As Marco Menardi already said,
it
helps to replace the linguistc.xcu in the user subdir, with an older
one.
But it can be much easier. Just delete the "linguistic.xcu" in the
"share\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office" tree. Now start writer,
configure the Spellcheck and Language Options, and they will remain.
If you want, you can now also copy the "linguistic.xcu" from
"user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office" into
"share\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office". I don't know what this
file in
the share subdir does, I just know that it makes troubles for many
times
now...
REMEBER: This is a workaround. I don't know if there are any side
effects,
but I didn't recognize one so far.

Unterverzeichnis "share\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office" einfach
löschen. Wer will, kann (Nachdem man OO gestartet, konfiguriert und
wieder
Nebenwirkungen
hat, bei mir bis jetzt noch keine. Die Version im "user" Zweig legt
sich
ohnehin von selbst neu an.

PS: Also diese Linguistic.xcu macht scheinbar öfter Probleme. Schon
bei
früheren Developer Versionen hat nur das löschen dieser Datei
geholfen, um
die Rechtschreibprüfung dauerhaft zu aktivieren. Würde echt mal gerne
wissen, wozu die Datei überhaupt gut ist, außer Probleme zu bereiten ;

MRU->TL: This only happens in OpenOffice. Seems that all the Writeng
Aids settings are not persistent there anymore...

Target set to OOo 1.1 RC since this one will get foxed alonmg with
#15362#.

TL->Kevin: To you since it depends on the fixed setup entry.

Hi,

My bug in scp was fixed yesterday with another change so we should
be good to here and so I am resolving this as fixed.

Please verify in the next OOo 1.1 based release.
