Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 10037
VBA TO BASIC or VBA TO Java
Last modified: 2013-02-24 21:09:08 UTC
Though for many users OOo is a good choice working on text documents, spreadsheet or presentations, there is a main argument for not using OOo (instead of ms office). In the past ms office established an industry standard for programming office: VB (i.e. VBA coming along with ms office). Since this is essential (if used) it is not only "nice to have" but a "must" for companies to have something like a VBA2BASIC or VBA2JAVA compiler when asked for migration criteria.
I changed the Priority to 1, because I think that Priority 1 is the highest.
This issue is addressed, but outside of my responsibility.
This is quite a big feature and I am currently investigating, so I don't know when we will be able to achieve this...
Priority 1 seems to be justified! At the same time a kind of Object Browser similar to VBA should be incorporated to the Basic IDE.
This is basically an RFE, which does not lie in my direct interest. Please feel free to find somebody else, to implement this.
I don't think that I'm the right person to implement this. BTW: I'm _not_ identical with andreasma@openoffice.org. I'm ama@openoffice.org. It's an RFE and so I send it to Falko.
Change priority from 1 to 2. This is one of the major enhancements we want to integrate in OOo 2.0. But this is not a reason for priority 1.
Bettina: Can you please verify that this will make it still into 2.0? If yes please close this one. Thx.
After a final discussion with development: there is no chance to get that big feature integrated. It can be handled as an own OO.o project.
Closed.
