I got this message every time I try the install (3 times).

OOo 1.0 isn't 'top of the list' anylonger. Please retry with OO 1.0.1.
OOo 1.0.1 is running fine on my WinME box.

My error on the pulldown version identification.

However the actual download file was correctly identified.

On the download page OOo is described as 51mb file. Have you
checksummed your file?

I finally worked my way around this problem, by installing in safe mode.  Everything seems to be working all right in the program.  Evidently, sal3.dll generates a conflict with the drivers WME normally loads, and fails everytime just before calling for identifying the java environment of choice.  If it is of any interest to you, I could submit more information.

I would state this as a driver problem.
