I am installing from the following tar file:     
OOo_1.0.1_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
I am running SuSE Linux Porfessional version 7.3 with KDE upgraded to 3.0
I am on a Toshiba Tecra 8100, 700 Mhz PIII, 256 MB RAM, 12 GB Hard drive
root portion of installation was successfull
user portion of instalation freezes my machine at various points in the
installation.  
(I've tried several times)  Usually freezes after selecting the next button
after entering regestration info.
