Sorry this attachment was meant for another issue. Please ignore. pl->hi: cannot reproduce, on my CUPS printer the page format of the document always wins (as expected). Perhaps you can find a system where this happens ? Allow me to present a similar problem of mine: System: Mandriva 2008.1, OO.org 2.4.1 (Czech; official RPMs, not Mandriva build) Printing: CUPS (local), 2 printers defined, both has A4 as default paper size OO keeps default printer size set at "libpaper value". If I open OO Printeradmin and change paper size in printer properties, as I open printer properties window again, the old value is back. I don't even need to close Printeradmin. Other printer attributes (like duplex type) are fine - they are same as default printer setting in CUPS and can be changed without problems. Still present in OO 3.1.0 (tested in Mandriva 2008.1 and Gentoo). What is official policy for this problem? I think OO should keep default page size from CUPS, not libpaper. It keeps everything else from CUPS, so why? I've checked with opensuse 10.3 and confirm the comment from PL The post script files shows exactly the page format which I've set before printing The attached document is defined as User. What happens when you define it as A4 under menu Format - Page - Page I'm not sure that I fully understand the problem. Allow me to describe my current observation. Please correct me, if I'm wrong somewhere: 1) Let's have a document in OO Writer. Only one page style is used. 2) An important property of page style is page format. For this document, let's have "page format = A5". 3) When printing such document, OO creates print job, which is handed to CUPS. 4) Print job = PostScript document + job attributes 5a) Job attributes can be user defined, usually in printer properties. Default values *should* be taken from CUPS. 5b) There is an exception - a "paper size" attribute is apparently taken via libpaper (see my comment from Aug 14 2008). I think this is a bug; default paper size should be obtained from CUPS too. 6) PostScript document has "Custom" size, which *should* match page format (see 2). But it is apparently taken from "paper size" (see 5b). 7) Therefore, when you want to print this on A4 paper (print job attribute), printer will receive: - PostScript document with "custom" size which matches A4 - and a request to print it on A5 paper Am I right?? To confirm this issue, these are my environment: Acer TravellerMate 4720 laptop Ubuntu Lucid updated to the most recent updates, with printers whose printer option/Paper size set to A4 OOO320m12(Build:9483) whose the paper size, of the default page properties of the document template invoked by selecting menu Format/Styles and Formatting, set to A4 Reset the assignee to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org". |
