This issue was report in bug
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=64628.

It was suggested by kr to refile this issue with a new summary to fully document
it for others.

The issue was an error when compiling a C++ application as an addin for OO 2.0.2
calc.  The error was "Could not find 16-bit type, add support for your
architecture."

The resolution required defining the compiler flag /DWNT for recognition of
16-bit types.
