I have the error similar to that as stated in 5063. I've tried running the
installation from the install directory on the drive where it was extracted (
this was downloaded twice over a 3+ week period), and from the root directory
of a drive, from a CD-ROM.
I don't have Java installed (yet).
The repair doesn't appear to work, also as reported in 5063.
I use RegClean 4.1a to clean-up the failed installation after attempting to run
repair. I have win2k installed on D:; whether the installation goes to C or D,
the results are pretty much the same. Videa is set for 1280x1024, 16-bit.

I resume: at the end of setup you get an error message and setup quits?
So I think it's duplicate to 5063, thefore this issue could be closed.

fine - I just don't see a resolution. Therefore, I don't see the
point in trying to install the software if no resolution is
available. I came here because I thought this is where end users
reported bugs and sought help. This system is not what I thought; it
looks good, but... so, someone can close this, I'll just delete the
open office file I downloaded but can't install and I'll just go on
elsewhere.

You are right: This tool is for reporting problems. But not for
getting resolutions. For help please ask the mailing lists.
