I have a document that consistently causes the word processor to crash. The
document is a 590K Word file. It is a manuscript for a book and has a huge
number of footnotes.

Under Windows 98, the word processor crashes during import. Under Windows
2000, I can import and repaginate the document, but it crashes if I click on
View, Online Layout, and then attempt to go to the bottom of the document.

I believe the problem is related to the large number of footnotes. The author
experiences many crashes while editing his manuscripts in MS Word.

I can't post this manuscript publicly, but would rather make it available to
the person working on the problem. Please contact me directly at
igor_birman@yahoo.com and I can make the document available.

Thanks!

I was not able to reproduce a crash while importing.
the only thing left is : when changing the View to "online layout",
the page formatting loops.

Fly frames "at character", a follow calculates fly frames which depend
on characters of the master.
