I changed this to installation -- after reading about someone with a similar problem under linux, it appears that the problem might be that libportalconnect.so can not be found. Here's the relevant 'truss' output: Notice that it attempts to find libportalconnect.so but it can't find it. This happened to be on a non-net install, but I get the same problem with net installs.. Where can I get libportalconnect.so? 1753: munmap(0xFBAD0000, 8192) = 0 1753: open("/export/home/Office60/program/local/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/export/home/Office60/program/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/usr/openwin/lib/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/usr/dt/lib/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/usr/java1.2/jre/lib/sparc/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("./libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/usr/lib/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/export/home/SUNWspro/lib/rw7/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/export/home/SUNWspro/lib/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/opt/SUNWspro/lib/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/usr/ccs/lib/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/usr/lib/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: open("/usr/lib/libportalconnect.so", O_RDONLY) Err#2 ENOENT 1753: sigaction(SIGABRT, 0x00000000, 0xFFBEECB8) = 0 1753: old: hand = 0xFF367D44 mask = 0xFFBFFEFF 0x00001FFF 0 0 flags = 0x000C 1753: sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, 0xFF38ADE0, 0xFFBEEB10) = 0 1753: set = 0xFFBFFEFF 0x00001FFF 0 0 1753: oset = 0 0 0 0 1753: lwp_kill(1, SIGABRT) = 0 1753: sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, 0xFFBEEB10, 0x00000000) = 0 1753: set = 0 0 0 0 1753: Received signal #6, SIGABRT [caught] 1753: siginfo: SIGABRT pid=1753 uid=15122 code=-1 1753: sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, 0xFF37F010, 0x00000000) = 0 1753: set = 0 0 0 0 1753: sigaction(SIGALRM, 0xFFBEE3E0, 0xFFBEE4E0) = 0 1753: new: hand = 0xFF367D44 mask = 0xFFBFFEFF 0x00001FFF 0 0 flags = 0x0008 1753: old: hand = 0xFF367D44 mask = 0xFFBFFEFF 0x00001FFF 0 0 flags = 0x000C 1753: alarm(30) = 0 1753: access("/tmp", 2) = 0 1753: so_socket(1, 2, 0, "", 1) = 13 1753: fcntl(13, F_GETFD, 0x00000000) = 0 1753: fcntl(13, F_SETFD, 0x00000001) = 0 1753: access("/tmp/OSL_PIPE_15122_SingleOfficeIPC_552640", 0) = 0 1753: connect(13, 0xFFBEDD64, 44, 1) = 0 1753: AF_UNIX name = /tmp/OSL_PIPE_15122_SingleOfficeIPC_552640 1753: accept(5, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 1) = 6 1753: Received signal #33, SIGLWP [caught] 1753: siginfo: SIGLWP pid=1753 uid=15122 code=-1 1753: sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, 0xFF37F010, 0x00000000) = 0 1753: set = 0 0 0 0 1753: sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, 0xFF38ADE0, 0x00000000) = 0 1753: set = 0xFFBFFEFF 0x00001FFF 0 0 1753: setcontext(0xFC57ECA8) 1753: send(13, " I n t e r n a l I P C :".., 28, 0) = 28 1753: recv(6, " I n t e r n a l I P C :".., 2048, 0) = 28 1753: close(13) = 0 1753: recv(6, 0xFC57F45C, 2020, 0) = 0 1753: recv(6, 0xFC57F440, 2048, 0) = 0 1753: close(6) = 0 1753: time() = 981047565 1753: munmap(0xFC480000, 1048576) = 0 1753: close(5) = 0 1753: unlink("/tmp/OSL_PIPE_15122_SingleOfficeIPC_552640") = 0 1753: alarm(0) = 30 1753: sigaction(SIGABRT, 0xFFBEE400, 0x00000000) = 0 1753: new: hand = 0x00000000 mask = 0 0 0 0 flags = 0x0000 1753: sigaction(SIGABRT, 0x00000000, 0xFFBEE480) = 0 1753: old: hand = 0x00000000 mask = 0 0 0 0 flags = 0x0000 1753: llseek(0, 0, SEEK_CUR) = 739620 1753: sigaction(SIGABRT, 0xFFBEE2D0, 0xFFBEE3D0) = 0 1753: new: hand = 0x00000000 mask = 0 0 0 0 flags = 0x0012 1753: old: hand = 0x00000000 mask = 0 0 0 0 flags = 0x0000 1753: sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, 0xFF38ADE0, 0xFFBEE2D8) = 0 1753: set = 0xFFBFFEFF 0x00001FFF 0 0 1753: oset = 0 0 0 0 1753: lwp_kill(1, SIGABRT) = 0 1753: sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, 0xFFBEE2D8, 0x00000000) = 0 1753: set = 0 0 0 0 1753: Received signal #6, SIGABRT [default] 1753: siginfo: SIGABRT pid=1753 uid=15122 code=-1 1753: *** process killed *** Hi Olaf! I think this one belongs to your collection. Hello Olli, I haven't had that problem on our solaris8, do you have any clue what went wrong? Thanks. I will debug within the next few days. Someone else here, in the factory, has independently gotten this to install and run, but I didn't see anything different in the way he installed it vs the way I did. He could not run my installed version.. So, I guess what I'm saying is that we might be dealing with an environmental issue or some kind here. Let me know if I can help. changing QA contact from bugs@ to issues@ I've just installed OO 641 C on solaris 8 and everthing work fine for me. Please let me know if you still have problems when using 641 c (or later ). As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified. As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details.
