just to have this as bug.
ole objects are not displayed only an empty frame is visible

Yes, till now it seems impossible to support ole in wordml, if no help of Flat
XML filter.

after OLE is supported in flat XML, this issue can start to solve.

glu: in OOo 2.0 beta, the static image can be seen in Writer (thanks to Wind's
work on wmz!), but OLE bin-data isn't imported yet. Because the frame style is
entangled with image style, so reassign it to Wind. Hopefully to fully support
OLE in 2.0 on Windows, and at least to see static image on other OSs.

leave full support of OLE to OOo later?

Oh, maybe it's ok to just close these displaying relative issues for OOo 2.0,
and reopen one new for full support of OLE later.

I had added the code. But I disable them currently to get the static  images
showed correctly. Or we will only get an unknown object icon.
