When a URL is used for the external data there is no busy cursor to show  
you that OOo is actually doing anything.

I really think that this should be included sooner rather than later. 
There is surely a generic "busy-cursor" functionality ? 
 
The reason why it is import in this case is that it is not possible to know if the 
operation has finished ( and found nothing ), or if it is still processing info or waiting 
for a slow server to return data.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
