I find that creating charts in Calc requires too many unnecessary keystrokes/ 
mouse-clicks: Click insert object, then graph, then select the location of the 
graph and then the graph itself.
On the other hand, Excel has a button for charts on the toolbars. It also has a 
shortcut, F11, to create a default graph. So, if the user selects some cells and 
presses F11, Excel plots a graph with default properties. I think this is a very 
useful feature in Excel and should be introduced in Calc as soon as possible.

Hello magrawal, the product concept document (PCD-ID 20344) covers
this problem, there you find the planned changes for creating a chart.
