It would be very usefull to have an import function so that you can import data
from a spreadsheet to a datasource. Import from other sources like text ascii
text files would also be helpfull.

for the spreadsheets: open the spreadsheet in Calc, mark the data
range in question, and drag'n'drop it onto the tables container of the
data source where you want it to import ...

change subcomponent to 'none'

confirming as valid RFE (which doesn't mean anything so far :), and assigning to
user experience team for evaluation.

Note that you can always create a data source for the external data in question,
and copy'n'paste (or drag'n'drop) the data to the target data source.

Adjusting priority.

I stubled on this one for a while and finally found out how to do this from this
issue. New users who are test-driving OOO Base will get rather dissed since
there is absolutely no documentation in the helps on how to use this cool
drag`n`drop feature.

I strongly suggest wording a nice SOP on how to import into OOO Base from text
files and spreadsheets using this functionality. Please write the SOP in such a
way such that help indexes are intuitive.

Thanks for all the great work!

In Base, there should be an import utility like that provided in MS Access.
This is especially useful when trying to convert a large set of ASCII-based
data into a HSQL DB without having to cut it up, import it into Calc, convert
it, etc. It would be great if one could select the type of DB table format and
also assign column types.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
