I tend to run the command line setiathome program in a command window. Using
OpenOffice 1.1 RC3 is significantly affected by this. The aspects affected that
I have noticed are printing (CUPS to networked Postscript LaserJet), which
appears to hang, and saving a document (.sxw) goes very slowly at the end of the
process. Killing setiathome makes these tasks run normally without any problem.
I am using fully patched RH 9.0 on an HP-Evectra (2.0 Ghz P4) with 768 KByte
RAM. I first noticed this effect in Star Office 1.0 on both RH8.0 and RH9.0
where almost everything was affected to the point o

This does not seem to be an OpenOffice bug. Try running setiathome
with a nice value of 9.

In retrospect, I realize that my response was not well-written. I
didn't mean to say that OpenOffice had nothing to do with this issue.

I am changing the issue type to "enhancement". I am setting the
target milestone to 1.1.1 because 1.1 is comming up soon and we need
to focus on more crucial issues.

Please run setiathome with a nice value of 9 and tell us what happens.
That might help developers isolate the problem.

Thank you for helping with OpenOffice.
