Description simos.bugzilla 2003-08-16 01:00:48 UTC
Just installed OOo 1.1RC3 on Win98 (high end system).

Managing a "Drawing" object in the text editor causes
OOo to crash ungracefully:

Prograrm Error
Application Error
[Close]

To verify,
1. open a new text document
2. using the drawing menu draw an ellipses in the document
(or another object)
3. try to click on the object or the empty area of the document.
4. OOo crashes.

I managed to achieve it several times,
a. by opening existing .DOC file made with MS Word and clicking existing ellipse
object
b. creating new OOo text document and making new ellipse object

p.s.
I am really happy with the result of OOo.
The responsiveness is amazine. Cannot view that progress bar
on the splash screen because it loads so fast. :)

Ok, tried with adding a graph and other objects in OOo
and it looks to crash as well.
I suppose that you will get loads of this issue.

Works fine in linux version (RC3). The problem may be related to
interaction with W98.
Comment 3 quetschke 2003-08-16 09:06:20 UTC
Works also fine with W98SE, could not reproduce.

How does OOo crash? Does the crashreporter start?
Comment 4 simos.bugzilla 2003-08-16 18:26:37 UTC
I tried installing again on a different computer (with lower specs)
and OOo did not crash this time.

I suppose the problem was related to other applications running at
the same time on the specific configuration of the system.

When I have the time I'll try to install on the same type of system
and narrow down which app is to blame.

I am closing the issue for now.

Thanks for your feedback.
