Description pplwong 2003-08-10 05:34:47 UTC
When inserting (or using) Table in Writer while using vertical writing mode, the
"row" and "column" definition of Tables are switched.

How to recreate:
1) Change page to vertical text mode.
2) Just insert a non-square table and count the rows and columns.

Should:
horizontal = row
vertical = column

Ok.

1) Right clickx
2) Select "page".
3) Select the "page" tab.
4) Change to vertical (right to left) writing for "text flow".
5) Now, click on the top button on the toolbar on the left side (i.e.
the insert table button).
6) The pop up window said 5 columns and 2 rows.
7) Click ok wihtout changing anything
8) You'll get 5 rows and 2 columns.

The point is that for Vertical Writing etc, people's point of view
haven't changed. A row is still a row, and a column is still a column.
Everything else is turned 90 degree and flow become top-down. But just
not how you call "row" and "column".
