Summary: some truetypes crash all OOo apps on startup
Product: gsl Reporter: Unknown <non-migrated>

Status: CLOSED FIXED QA Contact: issues@gsl <issues>
Severity: Trivial

Hardware: PC
OS: Linux, all
Issue Type: DEFECT Latest Confirmation in: ---
Developer Difficulty: ---

Description Unknown 2003-07-21 23:27:50 UTC
I added my truetype fonts to OOo via spadmin. Several fonts cause a crash of OOo.
One of the fonts that cause trouble is a Tahoma ttf I copied from Windows. Open Office
Components start, the main application frame is shown, then an alert dialog with a
button but no visible text appears. After clicking the (probably ok) button, the
application closes. Removing the critical fonts solves the problem. The Problem is
always reproducable on my machine.

I filed this bug with qa since it affects no single OOo part. If that was wrong, I
apologize, please move it to the appropriate location if possible.

Thanks,

Richard

Which fonts besides tahoma show the problem ?

I'm not sure. I have a bunch of fonts and tahoma was the first that I could
identify. Is there any way to start Openoffice with extensive debugging
output that I could use to track down the fonts? Otherwise I'd have to
manually check all my fonts (which I will then do).

There are not debug outputs to activate; but it might be that the
problem is fixed with OOo RC3.

Which OOo version exactly? Which distribution? What is the
version of /usr/lib/libfreetype? What is the md5sum of your
tahoma.ttf?

FYI:

Distribution: Gentoo 1.4
Freetype: 2.1.4

I just installed OOo 1.1RC3 German and the problem is gone.

In that case I'll close the issue.
