Word 2002 files with chapter numbering
In OpenOffice 1.1.beta2 the chapter numbering is completely missing! Reassigned to MRU MRU->CMC: Have a look at 1.1. There the described problem occurs. Will this be fixable according to the latest reconstruction of the numbering import? a) the chapter number is available and correct in srx645m10 for OOo1.1 b) the distance between 1.1 and the main text is because word uses a tab stop to seperate the values and in this case the tabstop setting is before the end of the 1.1 so word uses the next default tabstop. Something the filter cannot know will happen. Here we need to be able to use tabstops in numbering. This is a known issue to be handled for 2.0 Just adding one or two spaces (as characters after number) like in the Chapter numbering dialogue would help that the chapter numbering looks less ugly. It's obvious that cloning the MS Offic logic isn't too easy. And the format in the sample file isn't the best - but with just the spaces it looks much better and this is possible without big trouble with the tab's. Nah, I can't just add in a follow character of a space, it would only work for this one single document. In general the numbering's tab stop setting is a good distance after the text, way more than a space or two, and requires use of the "distance to text" OOo numbering setting. The only way to get this consistently right is to have our numbering be able to honour the tabstop in some way. cmc->hbrinkm: This is an example of the need of a tabstop in numbering, "Chapter 1.1" is seperated by a tab from its numbering of 1.1 We'll track the (eventual) resolution of tabs in numbering with issue i3232 *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 3232 *** reopen to reassign reassign And back to a duplicate again. Neat and tidy. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 3232 *** close issue. |
